I have over 20 years’ experience in IT Management of which 17 years have been at executive management level. 

I am highly skilled in establishing green fields IT and organisational units with required server and end-user computing platforms, networking and communications infrastructure. I am also experienced in appointing and placement of staff, compilation and management of budgets as well as crafting operational and strategic plans.

I have been responsible for conceptualising and pinning the business requirements for several custom applications and for project managing the development of these applications. Some of these included the online statutory return system used for collection of statutory financial data for the medical scheme industry in South Africa, a risk equalisation fund and the National Beneficiary Registry of all funded patients in South Africa.

 I am very proficient in dealing with tender processes and have participated and advised in tenders such as the renewal of IT Infrastructure and the relocation of the entire Council for Medical Schemes Head Office. I have extensive experience in establishing  proper IT Governance structures, based on the DPSA CGIT and COBIT frameworks,  and have drafted comprehensive IT Policy and Procedure Manuals, with supporting automated workflows.

 Over the years I served on several Governance and Management Committees and was also appointed Chair of the IT Advisory Group (ITAG) of the medical schemes industry, responsible for coordinating all IT related developments and standards.

I am currently on a five year contract as Chief Information Officer at SAMWUMED Medical Scheme, based in Cape Town, South Africa.
